Shell continues preparatory activities in Eastern Ukraine

Shell continues preparatory activities on Yuzivska area on the East of Ukraine. However, due to armed clashes between Ukrainian military and pro-Russian separatists more attention will be paid to the safety of field operations.

As reported by Bloomberg, Chief Financial Officer Simon Henry in an interview with Bloomberg TV stated:

“We obviously need to assess the future security situation as it develops because the safety of our own people is our first priority,” Henry said. “There’s no pulling out, but we take a time out on the actual drilling activity on the ground.”

At the same time, press office of Shell in Ukraine announced the company’s plans on tight sand gas exploration activities in Ukraine have not been changed.

“We are preparing for the beginning of exploration works on Yuzivska area. Currently, we continue works on baseline environmental study”, – commented Anna Dumanska, head of public relations department of Shell in Ukraine.

Shell has drilled two wells within the joint project with Ukrainian state company Ukrgasproduction and also signed PSA for tight sand gas exploration on Yuzivska area.
